Peninsula Cycleway Project
Location:Portobello Road, Dunedin | Date:2016 |
Type:Topographical Field Survey | Services:Surveying (roading and seabed) |
Dunedin City Council's plan for the extension of their cycle and shared path network down the Otago Peninsula has initiated a complex engineering project to widen Portobello Road and establish new sea walls.
As subcontractors to Lead Consultants GHD Ltd, Terramark were engaged to conduct a detailed topographical field survey of the road corridor and harbour bed and produce accurate 3-D topographical models to facilitate detailed engineering design.
Completion of this project has included the use of GPS and robotic total station technologies to gather topographical features, and has required carefully planned fieldwork, especially for the harbour bed, which could only be surveyed at low-tide.
Homer Tunnel
Location:Milford Sound | Date:2010 |
Type:Topographical Survey | Services:Surveying Engineering |
In 2010, Terramark worked with other consultants to the NZ Transport Agency, as part of a study into options to improve safety at the Homer Tunnel in Fiordland.
Working in an extraordinarily scenic while potentially hazardous environment, Terramark personnel undertook topographical surveying of the approach roads and tunnel portals, and assisted with 3 dimensional laser scanning of the full length of the tunnel interior.
Dunedin Wastewater Outfall
Location:Dunedin | Date:2000 & 2007 |
Type:Construction Set Out | Services:Surveying Engineering |
Dunedin's treated wastewater is discharged to sea at two locations at Waldronville and Tahuna. In 2000 and 2007 the Dunedin City Council upgraded these ocean outfalls by extending the pipelines further out to sea.
Terramark was engaged by the principal contractors to provide surveying services, primarily construction set-out, to monitor the alignment of the temporary pipe platforms and to ensure the positional accuracy of the pipelines on the seabed.
Waipori Power Scheme
Location:Lake Mahinerangi | Date:2003 - Ongoing |
Type:Shoreline Feature Monitoring | Services:Surveying |
In 2003, the Company was commissioned by TrustPower, to establish a survey monitoring network and collect data to detect any changes to the shoreline of Lake Mahinerangi, as a response to the lake level management regime.
This involved both GPS and traditional survey of beaches and shoreline, and hydrographic survey of parts of the lake bed.
